VIOLIN TEACHING Background: Entranced by brother Gregory’s musical violin playing and hearing his study of violin concertos, Adriene enjoyed first lessons with Gregory in 2015/16. Adriene really enjoys teaching this very challenging instrument.

VIOLA TEACHING: quite similar initially as three of the strings are the same!

Mrs M F LLB – Viola Teaching Testimonial: “I have played the viola for 25 years as an amateur. Although Adriene has studied the violin for a relatively short time, because of her lessons with a world class player, and a dedicated study of technique, she was able to give me some useful tips on stance and bow hold. These have improved my playing considerably.”

UKULELE TEACHING – Background: A primary school teacher requested Adriene to teach her daughter ukulele. Although Adriene didn’t posses a ukulele at the time, she studied hard and now teaches beginners. A very easy starting and portable instrument, which is easy to pack in the car, sling over a shoulder, to take out to play in the garden, on the beach, for picnics and holidays to keep the music, singing and fun going. As friend Sallie suggested, just start with the “3 Chord Trick” to play hundred of tunes.

Mrs D & Dr P H – Ukulele Teaching Testimonial: “As a family we have been having ukulele lessons with Adriene Ellis for several weeks. Adriene’s lessons are always well planned, instructions very clear. and although, we all take the lessons very seriously, they are great fun. We now have an impressive, if technically limited repertoire for beginners and look forward to future lessons on this “fun” instrument.

CELTIC HARP TEACHING Background : A Lancashire Chorley school friend, played and introduced Adriene to her Starfish Design Celtic Harp in 2015. encouraging her to have some harp lessons. After a first lesson with Anne Chorley, playing as a duo was discussed then and thus was launched ANGELS DELIGHT FLUTE HARP DUO http://www.angelsdelightmusic.co.uk , and rehearsing for regular Church and other Charity Concerts. Calendar details are to be found on the Harp Flute Duo page. Anne recommended the Edinburgh International Harp Festival. At EIHF Adriene found her favourite beautiful Camac “Aziliz” 34 Stringed Celtic Harp, nb Adriene’s STORY STORIES page. Violin string tuning does become a little easier after tuning this many stringed instrument. Adriene enjoys teaching beginner harpists. Her colleague Anne teaches to advanced and runs courses for harpists.

Mrs L W – Florence Nightingale Award / Psychologist: CELTIC HARP Teaching Testimonial: “Meeting Adriene and being with her on a monthly basis has been a complete joy. She is a skilful musician and can instruct pupils on a variety of instruments. She always prepares her lessons tailored to your needs. Should you attend Adriene’s lessons, you will receive encouragement and a positive approach to you abilities. She will guide you regarding practice you should do and produces good programmes. As an adult, priorities in a 7 day week could over-ride the practice time you set out to achieve. Adriene will patiently help you with this. Adriene wants you to be a successful musician, and she will not waiver in her support of you. I have been encouraged by my harp lessons, and always look forward to the next one.”

Mrs J S – Retired Teacher : Celtic Harp Teaching Testimonial: “I am an older learner with no previous musical experience apart from learning to play the descant recorder at primary school. I had often thought of learning how to play the Celtic Harp, and after I retired it seemed a perfect time and moment in my life to try. I had 5 lessons with Adriene who introduced me to the delights of this wonderful instrument. She is an intuitive and patient teacher, who adapts her techniques to the needs and abilities of her students, and she imparts her love for the instrument with her enthusiasm and positivity.”

GUITAR TEACHING: Adriene teaches beginners after she played through abrsm scales arpeggios and pieces to grade 5 level. She enjoyed giving a solo singing recital for Chorley Music Society with Classical and Jazz guitarist Simon James. Memorably the school bell, added to the drama and entertainment and rang right in the middle of a upbeat Spanish song number.
