Adriene taught: privately in London WI homes, as Peripatetic Music Teacher in Buckinghamshire, at Amersham’s State Brudenell School, at Prep Schools of Manor Road Liverpool, York House in Sarratt, Buckinghamshire, Old Buckenham Hall, Suffolk, Queenswood Girls’ Public School in Potters Bard Hertfordshire, at Edward Dodge’s Music Department, Friend’s Quaker School, Saffron Waldon, and at Harrow Music School.
For many years Adriene organised Students’ Concerts in Chesham’s Temperance and Elgiva Halls, Buckinghamshire. With empathy, seeing Adriene teach in the hired Temperance Hall, student parent friends Cheryl and Colin kindly lent their Chesham maisonette basement to Adriene as a teaching studio. Videoing many concerts for students objective self study, Adriene also arranged Chesham Amersham individual recitals for her most advanced students, e.g. for Soprano/Flautist Anna Lishman who later pursued a Kings College Music degree now teaching herself, and Gary Magee later singing with Scottish Opera This was accompanied by Adriene’s friend pianist Catherine Wong. Main student performances were accompanied by Anne Ayre, Paul Beechey, Pauline Griffiths, and Sheila Cornall. Later Dr Ian Flowers and Patrick Friend accompanied her Suffolk Home Student Concerts where 30 chairs were bought/brought in for more informal Afternoon Tea and Music Concerts. Occasionally Students’ family guests as French Horn player Rob Spivey contributed to the musical entertainment. Often students helped designing the Concert Programmes, initially typed and printed by young computer buff Philip Lishman.
Adriene has taught and teaches students from age 3 upwards. Interested in reading biographies of world class musicians, it has been noted that, as violinists Lord Menuhin, that many started lessons at very young age, even from 2 years old, playing each day with expert supervision in order to establish good practice habits. One of Adriene’s 3 year old’s parents’ both with Music Degrees appreciated the value to start music lessons at the youngest possible age. Many of her students have passed ABRSM exams with Distinction, in the last 5 years students achieving 100% Distinctions. Please note different pages for relevant music teaching testimonials.
Adriene was contacted re giving classes in Malta and latterly teaching in Dubai, though family health blips meant she was unable to pursue this.
Singing Technique being useful and mostly necessary for all styles to sing safely without vocal damage, Adriene has enjoyed helping students in other styles, such as folk and pop, including a Cult member and Elvis Impersonators.
