Biography – Adriene’s Past Teachers Coaches & Accompanists

Adriene enjoyed and enjoys the journey, through different genres, to improve technique, musicality, different teaching and performing skills, from, and with grateful thanks to all her past teachers. These include the Lancashire Chorley School Teachers Sybll Banks at Duke Street Primary School and the enthusiastic energetic Kenneth Hytch at Chorley Southlands Secondary School and those individual lessons teachers both privately and at Music Colleges. Her past teachers include:

Piano Teachers: Mrs Ennis of Bolton Road, Chorley, Lancashire, Peggy Stanway Band Singer of Chorley, Enid Belshaw of Wigan and Staff member of Padgate Teachers Training College, Warrington, Jacqueline Gracey Williamson at Mabel Fletcher College Liverpool with whom she achieved ABRSM Grade 8 piano distinction. Alfred Kitchen at Trinity College of Music, London. A great pianist he was ex-Intelligence Service. His wife wrote plays and invited Adriene and Jane Capper to act in their play on a game of chess. Adriene asked a student hostel lady straight over from Ireland to record all her lines so she could copy a good Irish accent,

Singing Master Class Participation with: Morag Noble of Trinity College of Music and with Mr Ellis Keeler of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama Teacher.

Singing Courses & Master Classes attended: Summer Music course in Hungary, Jazz Singing course in Suffolk, AOTOS – Association of Teachers of Singing Days & W/E courses in London and Warwickshire, attending 14 fascinating days of Welsh National Opera colleague Baritone Philip Rock’s coaching with Signor Rucci on Bel Canto Singing, opposite the Rome Opera House, Italy. As a very young man Signor Rucci had coached/ accompanied the great Maria Callas. her Master Classes are well worth watching.

Studying for a Singing Recording: studies with the late Professor Boldiszar Koench, an interesting and wonderful opportunity studio recording some favourite pieces, including Casta Diva from the opera Norma by Bellini, both singing and playing the flute introduction with the 55 strong Wien Orchestra and the 80 strong Budapest Radio Choir. It was fascinating having lessons with Boldiszar, to the faint strains from the next room where the choir was being coached by the great Latin Tenor Jose Cura, and hearing the great talent in various Budapest student and other concerts. A health blip meant Adriene was not able to achieve the standard she was aiming for, but it was an amazing experience.

Piano Accordion Teacher: Sallie Walrond, International Horse Carriage Driving Instructor, Adjudicator, at times with HRH Prince Philip RIP, & author of 13 books, including her fascinating autobiography “Trot On”. Sallie, as piano accordionist for many years, has given Charity Concerts to raise funds for Carriage Driving for the Disabled. Sallie, also a grade 7 pianist from age 15yrs, kindly studied the ABRSM music scales, sight reading and pieces to give Adriene’s students very useful http://www.abrsm.org mock exams.
